Accredited Precompletion Sound Testing for ADE

We hold Associate Membership of the ANC and are accredited through their registration scheme

We do not charge for local (IW) site visits prior to testing and can provide full (and usually free!) advice and information prior to testing.

We base our quotes on the normal testing requirements specified in Approved Document E. These are:

• For dwellings with party walls, 2 tests
  (2 horizontal airborne tests)
  
• For dwellings with party floors, 4 tests
  (2 vertical airborne and 2 vertical impact tests)
  
• For dwellings with party walls and floors, 6 tests
  (2 horizontal airborne tests, 2 vertical airborne tests and 2 vertical impact tests)

It may occasionally be acceptable to carry out fewer tests than specified above, but only in exceptional circumstances and with the prior agreement of Building Control.

Readiness for Noise Testing

PLEASE REMEMBER that rooms for testing should be structurally COMPLETE, but UNFURNISHED and UNCARPETED. It's best to arrange for testing as early as possible so that, If you are unlucky enough to have a failure, you can carry out remedial work without having to redecorate as well!

Failed Sound Insulation Tests

In the case of a failure, we will let you know on the spot and it will be shown in your test report. We can offer immediate advice on the likely cause(s) of the failure and also on the nature of appropriate remedial action.

NEW BASELINE Sound Testing

Aimed specifically at developers working on conversions (in particular where the party element separates domestic from non-domestic areas, e.g. a flat above a bar), we will test the existing construction to tell you exactly what level of sound insulation is already present.

This allows you to be more selective with the nature, quantity and application of sound insulation treatments, potentially saving you a great deal of time and money.

We can examine the results and offer information and expert advice on the best ways to achieve the levels you require.

Fees for BASELINE Testing are much lower than for Precompletion Testing because there is no requirement for report writing and certification.
